Introduction
Freelancers.cy is a groundbreaking online platform based in Cyprus, designed to connect freelancers with clients seeking digital services. The platform serves as a marketplace where companies can list job openings and individuals can bid on projects. The primary objective of Freelancers.cy is to revolutionize the job listing landscape in Cyprus by offering a user-friendly, efficient, and cost-effective solution.
Background
The absence of a local platform catering specifically to freelancers and job listings in Cyprus prompted the inception of freelancers.cy. Existing job listing websites lacked user-friendliness and were not conducive to the needs of both employers and freelancers. This gap in the market inspired the team to create a platform that would streamline the process of finding jobs and hiring freelancers.
Methodology
freelancers.cy was developed using WordPress and Figma. The project began with the creation of wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes, followed by high-fidelity prototypes to ensure a seamless user experience. A team of four individuals, including a Social Media Content Creator and Manager, Product Designer, Product Owner, and Full Stack Developer, collaborated closely throughout the development process.
Implementation
The team started with simple WordPress templates but transitioned to custom Figma designs for enhanced user experience. Development was iterative, with constant communication between the Product Owner, Product Designer, and Developer to ensure adherence to project guidelines and brand standards.
Results
While Freelancers.cy is still in the process of refinement, initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Users appreciate the platform’s clean design, intuitive interface, and innovative features such as project bidding. Organizations like Student Life have shown interest and support for the platform, signaling its potential impact in the Cyprus market.
Impact
freelancers.cy has already begun making waves in the Cyprus job market, with users praising its usability and potential to transform freelancing in the region. The introduction of project bidding functionality akin to platforms like Upwork has been particularly well-received. Moving forward, the platform aims to monetize through charging companies for job listings and project postings while keeping freelancers’ access free.
Future Improvements
The team acknowledges the continuous need for improvement and plans to enhance the platform further by introducing new features and refining existing ones. Future plans include monetization strategies and ongoing efforts to support and empower the freelance community in Cyprus.
